‘Rush Hour 4’ Might Be Finally Coming Together
Comedic actor and half of the Rush Hour duo Chris Tucker has claimed that Rush Hour 4 is very much still on the table and may soon be coming together. While buddy cop films are hardly original at this point, Rush Hour has always had the benefit of Chris Tucker’s chemistry with co-star and stunt master Jackie Chan. The original Rush Hour was a surprise smash hit and was Chan’s breakthrough into the homes of American audiences everywhere. The film was followed up with two sequels that saw mixed success at the box office.
Back in 2017, Jackie Chan confirmed the existence of Rush Hour 4, but not much else has come to fruition since then. However, Chris Tucker has recently given somewhat of an update on the project’s development:
We’re working on a few things on the script right now, so we’re trying to get into production. But we’re working on it and trying to get it going. Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it, [the] studio wants to do it, so we’re trying to get it together. I guess, Jackie and me, but yeah, I was definitely down as long as it comes together right and it looks like it’s coming together right.
The long development period for Rush Hour 4 may be a sign that they are treating the script with a lot of care. Hopefully, it can reverse some of the disappointment that came with the release of Rush Hour 3. Chan has gone on record saying that he isn’t a huge fan of Rush Hour‘s action sequences and that they are all underwhelming films. But when Jackie books a project, he commits.
