Horror Indie Game Monstrum Comes to the Switch

The horror, survival game Monstrum, that’s already been announced for release on the PS4 and the Xbox One, but now the game is coming to the Switch. Monstrum has you stranded on an abandoned, tattered, broken cargo ship getting hunted by the game’s nightmarish monster. As you search for a way out for the ship, the predator gets closer with every pacing step. To outwit this predator, you’ll need a cunning, clever strategy with what’s available to you on the ship.

Monstrum

But wait, there’s more! There isn’t just one predator hunting you in the dead of night. There are three monsters in the game called Brute, Fiend, and the Hunter. Each monster comes with its own observable behaviors and characteristics. To give you an advantage, each predator comes with its own weakness that needs to be discovered and employed. Careful, because if you die the environment, the predator you’re facing changes. The game introduces permadeath, a feature making everything you gained from your last life meaningless as you start fresh without anything from the previous life. Every time you die, you’ll start over with nothing and a new challenge to face.

Monstrum

Monstrum implements an all or nothing take on the classic horror genre. The game was previously released on Steam in 2015 and many players, YouTubers, and streamers alike gave it glowing reviews. On top of the first-hand player experiences, Monstrum also received numerous awards. One was the TIGA’s Best Debuted Game award in 2015. The game has procedurally generated levels with AI-driven predators ready to devour you in a second if you make the wrong move. The environment is ever-changing and never the same. The environment you’re in one life can have you hiding in closets or going underneath tables to avoid being detected. To make good use of the learned behaviors of the monsters, the environments need to be utilized to their fullest! Below you’ll find a trailer for the game.
