The New F9 Movie is Set for Big Fourth of July Weekend Boon |
The new F9 movie is set to continue its hot opening weekend start for the Fast & Furious franchise. Since Covid-19 hit, we have not seen a box office draw like F9 had when it opened for a whopping $70 million on its opening weekend.
According to Variety, the Justin Lin directed, ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise is set to rake in $32 million this upcoming Fourth of July weekend. Which will bring F9‘s total to $126 million in a little over a week. If they break the $100 million mark, which they likely will, they will join A Quiet Place II and Godzilla vs. Kong as the only films to have broken that benchmark since Covid-19 hit.
On a broader note, Universal seems to be sitting pretty with two other movies premiering this Fourth of July weekend; The Boss Baby: Family Business and The Forever Purge will join F9 this weekend. They are expected to take the second and third spots for this weekend’s box office. Although they may not reach the same numbers as the new F9 movie had, they should still see a decent boon with things starting to normalize.
F10: We Take the Moon
What the Fast & Furious franchise needs to do is let Michael Bay take the reigns. At this point, they have jumped the shark after starting as a movie about an undercover cop trying to stop a group of street racers from stealing DVDs. Just let Bay do his thing and have them fight the moon or something. Hell, why not go full ham and have them fight extraterrestrial aliens who have really souped-up space cars. If F9 and the Fast & Furious franchise want to continue to print money, which I am sure they do, then they need to do the logical thing and let Michael Bay send the crew to the moon and beyond.ncG1vNJzZmismJq7pr7DrKuaq5hjsLC5jq2fnmWemsRusphmpKiumZp6qr%2BMrJytZZakv26uyKBkn6elp8Gpec6fZKOtnK56uLHEpJynnF2XvLC6jg%3D%3D
